ANIMATED PAINTING *WIP*

Frames from the projection (There's lots just click the arrows)

This is my largest current work that is in progress. After a few of the below paintings I made a 3D model of the fox character. (Prettie Fox) I wanted to animate her, then use those animations to create a painting.

My goal is to have a work that is both the painting and the projection. Marry the painting to the color and movement in the video.

The video at the top of the page is a proof of concept. Neither the painting or projection parts of the work are finalized.  I hope to answer questions about this marriage between painting and projection. I want to bring in more of the digital elements into the painting, the chunky pixels especially. How can paint color and light color mix? How do they interact?

This is one of the original animations. You can find out more about this character on the Prettie Fox page under 3D characters!

To the right is where my video projection experimentation started. Using Blender3D I broke up the elements of the painting and lit them with digital lamps, then animated the movement of those lamps. I then projected the rendered video onto the painting.
